Gaudy Day: Welcoming our OJs Home
On Saturday, 7 June, St John's College welcomed back generations of Old Johannians for a reimagined Gaudy Day, a celebration rooted in heritage and community spirit, combining the celebration with the Derby Day against St Alban's College.

As an Old Johannian who matriculated from Clayton House in 2001, I take immense pride in the ongoing academic brilliance of St John’s College. Over the years, the College has cemented its reputation as a beacon of excellence, not just among boys' schools but also in comparison to top-performing girls' schools across South Africa.
College Life: Michaelmas Term 2024
In Michaelmas Term, we celebrated several milestones that highlight the spirit and success of our students and community. The Matric Class of 2024 completed their final exams on 25 November, with a heartfelt send-off from parents. Newly inducted School and House Prefects, led by Head of School Siza Gule, were recognised for their leadership, with special mention of the Heads of Service for their role in shaping the school culture.
Class of 2024 Matric Results
The Old Johannian Association celebrates the outstanding achievements of the Matric Class of 2024 in the IEB examinations. With a 100% tertiary pass rate, 124 achieved Bachelor’s Degree passes, and the class earned 401 distinctions, averaging 3.2 distinctions per student.

St John’s College announces with great sadness the passing of our oldest Old Johannian. John David (Jack) Hadfield passed away early on Tuesday morning, 5 November 2024, eighty years after he had matriculated from the College.
