Obituary: Harold ‘Dickie’ Bird (1933 – 2025)
Legendary cricket umpire, Harold “Dickie” Bird, passed away at his home in Yorkshire on 22 September 2025. One of the most respected umpires in cricket history, and recognised with an MBE in 1986 and an OBE in 2012 for his contribution to cricket and charity. A little-known fact about Bird was that he coached at St John’s College between 1973 and 1976.

Gaudy Day: Welcoming our OJs Home
On Saturday, 7 June, St John's College welcomed back generations of Old Johannians for a reimagined Gaudy Day, a celebration rooted in heritage and community spirit, combining the celebration with the Derby Day against St Alban's College.
OJA Dinner: An Evening of Connection and Reflection
The Rene England Auditorium was filled with warmth and old friendships on Friday, 6 June, as the Old Johannian Association hosted its annual dinner on the eve of Gaudy Day with special guest speaker Andisa Ntsubane (Nash 1993)
